We are frequently asked if the Twist-N-Hook foam board hangers can be used to hang larger/wider sign boards. While the manufacturer states that they can be used to safely hand a 24 x 36 inch board, we know that foamcore boards do not weigh very much.
We have had several customers report success in hanging pieces as long as 8 feet. The trick seems to be placing hangers every 24 inches or so. You should be doing this with foam core boards mounted with only with a print and absolutely no framing around the edges (plastic, aluminum, etc.) – just the foam core to keep the weight minimized.
It is definitely recommended that these large signs be suspended or hung using wire or line through the hangers as opposed to placing the hangers on to nails. A good wind/breeze could easily blow the board off the nails.
