USB extension cableWe are often asked, "How long is the cable that connects the camera to the printer included with the digital passport systems?" That is a great question and a reasonable concern in some settings where the camera my be positioned several feet from the printer. The answer is about 24 inches or 2 feet, which honestly, is not really long enough, especially in a retail/store environment where the printer may be positioned behind a counter. It just adds time to carry the camera out to the shooting area, position it, compose the shot, then walk it back to the printer and plug it in to begin the printing process.

That's where a USB Extension Cable comes in handy - any length will work, so long as it is has an A male-to-A female connector ends (pictured in the above right). CFS has them in 10 and 15 foot lengths.

Adding length to the camera cable not only adds convenience and saves time, it also protects your camera's USB port. That tiny, little port is very fragile. If the USB cable is forced in while facing the wrong direction, the port can be easily damaged and Fuji will not cover that under warranty. In fact, we wrote a post on a recommended procedure to protect your camera's USB port keeping it always plugged in. You can read about that by clicking the image below:
